Colonial Road Runners
Grand Prix Series
Each year, 12 local races are designated as Colonial Road Runners Grand Prix races. Members who participate in the designated races are awarded points based on their order of finish among CRR members, broken down by gender and age groups. Points are totaled for the year and awards are presented to the top three participants in each age group at our annual banquet. Click on the individual races below for more information about that particular race.
Note: Races selected by the Grand Prix Committee could change without advance notice during the year if Race Directors cancel, alter dates or virtualize their event due to Health Advisories or other reasons like weather, etc. All Grand Prix races will be in-person races, no virtual races will be included within the Grand Prix Series.
Grand Prix Participation Award:
Rules/Scoring
To earn this award, runners must have an official race finish time for at least 6 Grand Prix races. This award will be given to any runner who does not place in the top 3 age group categories, but has completed the required number of races.
Overall Grand Prix Award:
Note: The Overall Grand Prix Award is being eliminated in 2026, 2025 will be the last year for this running award.

There are 12 races in the series. Up to 8 races will be counted in a runner’s point total for the year.

Overall points will be assigned to the top ten Male/Female finishers. 10 points will be awarded to the top CRR finisher in a race, 9 points to the second finisher, etc.

Age Group Categories for both Male and Female will be 19 & Under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79 and 80 & Above. A runner’s age category for the year will be determined by his/her age as of January 1st. Participants cannot earn points in more than one age category. 10 points will be awarded to the top CRR finisher in a race in each age category, 9 points to the second finisher, etc. All finishers will receive at least one point.

Once the Grand Prix director has compiled the member point totals for a race, the results will be posted on www.colonialrunners.org. Members should review the results and notify the Grand Prix director of any corrections or omissions.

To be eligible for an award, a member must run a minimum of 6 of the 12 events. All races run will be scored, however only those members with six or more races completed will be eligible for an award.
Awards will be presented at the annual Club Banquet to the Age Group Grand Prix Award (top three Male/Female in each age category) and the Grand Prix Participation Award (Participate in at least 6 Grand Prix events).

Note: Before registering for a Grand Prix race, look for race discounts within the members only section of our website. Discounts will be added as they become available from Race Directors. As always, register early as some races could sell out.
